Novels

My debut novel, The Theatre of Dreams, is set in the fictional resort of Hookes Bay on the south coast.

Out of work musical theatre actress Tara thinks she’s found her guardian angel when terminally ill octogenarian Kitty Keaton invites her to take over her former dance school. However, it soon becomes apparent that Kitty is being far from benevolent. Tara finds herself embroiled in Kitty’s hair-brained scheme to deceive her step-son and defy a local property developer who has set his sights on re-generating Hookes Bay’s tired seafront, including the demolition of Kitty's beloved family-owned pavilion. Tara is in enough trouble already, and the last thing she needs is a conviction for fraud, but on the other hand, Kitty’s historic pavilion has already charmed her, and so has Dominic Flynn, the bankrupt architect with his own agenda for opposing the re-development plans.

Is preserving the past the key to securing Tara's own hopes and dreams for the future? Or will her part in Kitty's plans signal the end of an already tarnished career?

The Theatre of Dreams will be published by Crooked Cat books in the summer of 2018.
